Halloween 2 2009 is Rob Zombie’s latest version of this classic Halloween slasher sequel.The original Halloween II, written by John Carpenter, starred Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, and Donald Pleasence as Dr. Loomis.

While the original Halloween II takes place entirely in the local hospital of the fictitious midwestern town of Haddonfield, in Halloween 2 2009, Laurie, with Michael on her heels, moves on from the hospital; but not before Michael efficiently reduces the size of the hospital staff.Laurie tries to put her life back together by taking up residence with the Haddonfield sheriff and his daughter.But unfortunately, Michael has other plans.Haunted by ghostly images of his mother, who urges him to reunite the family by killing Laurie, Michael plots another Halloween massacre in order to finally capture Laurie.

In the year since the attacks, Laurie seems to have undergone a change from goody two shoes to Goth. In the meantime, Dr. Loomis, has sold out. He as written a book about Michael’s case, and seems to be more interested in his book tour than in helping Laurie or any of Michael’s victims. Michael doesn’t give Dr Loomis much of a chance to enjoy the newfound profits of his infamous patient’s case, however, and Dr. Loomis gets his in Halloween 2.

The similarity in the story line between the original Halloween II and Halloween 2 2009 ends at the hospital. After that, Halloween 2 is a new and different movie. There is the separate character of Michael Myers as a child, along with his mother, who plays a major role, even though she is now dead. The development of the abomination that is Michael Myers is explored as is the growing mental instability of Laurie Strode as she struggles with the realization that Michael is her brother.

The visual effects in this movie are dark and terrifying. Michael Myers takes on a new creepiness, a combination of the original mask, with a little of the original “Terminator” thrown in. Did you know that the original Halloween Michael Myers mask is molded from the face of Star Trek actor William Shatner?Now that’s scary! The new and improved Michael mixes up the mayhem a bit this film. Not only does he slash and stab, he finds other ways to provide an ample supply of Halloween gore. What was missing from the Halloween 2 2009 remake until the very end in the Halloween music. That scary soundtrack is so synonymous with Halloween that it creates it’s own terror all by itself.
