Halloween 2009 is shaping up to be scarier and more fun than ever. The faltering economy is not proving to be much of deterrent to the planned Halloween festivities. With many people foregoing summer vacations and other luxuries in order to save money, a lot of people are determined to lighten up and have a little fun with a great new Halloween costume this year.
So what will be some of the popular Halloween costume themes for 2009?Well a new president always brings a new theme, and Barack Obama costumes and masks will be everywhere.Even the stylish and beautiful Michelle Obama may put in an appearance at more than one Halloween event.Big hair and everything 80’s will be in for Halloween 2009. Leopard and parachute pants, leg warmers, off-the-shoulder sweatshirts and bangle bracelets will all be coming out this season. You may even still have them packed away! 80’s rock stars will be on the reunion tour at 2009 Halloween parties everywhere. Recently deceased stars such as Farrah Fawcett and Billy Mays will also come back to life for one night on Halloween, although these costumes may have to be home made, as costume makers have not had time to put these costumes together in such a short time. However, you should be able to find costumes of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and since Elvis has never left the building, the King of Rock and Roll never goes out of style on Halloween.
Characters from popular movies from the past year, including Harry Potter, Star Trek, both old and new versions, Twilight and Transformers will be recreated in 2009 Halloween costumes. Other older Star Wars and movie comic heroes like Spiderman will also return for encore appearances. The 40th anniversary of Sesame Street will see the return of perennial favorites, such as Bert & Ernie, Cookie Monster, Kermit, Miss Piggy and other lovable characters. Characters like these along with TV show characters such as those from The Office, the CSI’s, Ugly Betty and others can be fun for groups hosting or attending 2009 Halloween parties.
Where do you find the best Halloween costumes for 2009? With the internet, the world is your oyster, so to speak. There are thousands and thousands of costumes in all price ranges. The earlier you start the better. Vendors may get backed up with orders and shipments can be delayed. Check with various sites, they usually will have “order by” dates to guarantee delivery by Halloween. Shipping costs are expensive enough for standard ground service, you don’t want to have to pay extra for expedited delivery. Another source is your local costume store. They have costumes both for sale and rentals. Again, get there early for the best selection. If you are really on a tight budget, try local thrift stores. They may have donated Halloween costumes that they bring out for the season. If you’re brave and have a little talent, you can also make your own. Have fun with it, it doesn’t have to be perfect.
